Loving Yourself is the Greatest REVOLUTION

Amber Ostrander, Board Treasurer
Amber moved to Sacramento in 2006 after leaving her hometown of Chico, California. Amber attended Chico State University and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Multicultural/Gender Studies and Health and Human Services. Throughout college Amber worked several jobs, volunteered at local non-profits and had an amazing time expanding her knowledge into areas that she grew passionate about such as race, religion, social justice, and class disparities.
Growing up, Amber was the oldest of 4 and raised by a single mother trying to make ends meet. Being a family with very low-income, Amber witnessed first hand the issues that people face when trying to access resources that they cannot afford. It was at this time, growing up, that Amber developed a passion for social justice and for giving back to disadvantaged communities.
Amber has a great deal of non profit experience, working for the United Way for over 7 years in many capacities including grant writing, case management and program development. In Amber's current role at the Health and Human Services Agency, Amber helps to develop and maintain training's that inspire effective leadership and manages all administrative functions for the Agency. Amber enjoys adventure, self-development, being outdoors, traveling, gardening and being in the company of her dog - preferably at the river with a good book.
"I understand, first-hand, the implications of growing up and feeling like you don't belong. I know the problems this can create and I also know that with the right tools and support, your frame of thinking can change. I look forward to doing everything I can to spread programming that encourages self-love in the youth of the Oak Park community."
